Parminder Nagra is an English actress best known for her roles in the movie Bend it like Beckham and the TV show ER

Parminder Nagra was born in Leicester, England on October 15 1975. Her parents where immigrants form Punjab, Indian and moved to England in the 70's.

in school Parminder Nagra was in band (youth orchestra) and her school's drama club. Parminder Nagra acting in school most have been pretty good because after she graduated her drama teacher asked her to join Hathi Productions, a British Indian theater company. Parminder Nagra's first professional acting role was for the play Nimai where she played the lead.

Parminder Nagra stayed with Hathi for only a number of months before she decided to move to London and further her acting career in 1994. At first Parminder Nagra had a hard time finding acting work and had to sell her voila and take a stocking job but it was to long before 19 year old Parminder Nagra landed the role of the princess in a play of Sleeping Beauty.

From that play Parminder Nagra went back to working with theater companies with actors of Indian decent such as Tamasha and Tara Arts.

in 1996 Parminder Nagra signed to agent Joan Brown, who lead her to TV work. Parminder Nagra then acted in small roles in such shows as Casualty and The Kumars at No. 42.

in 97 Parminder Nagra starred in Oh Sweet Sita. which would lead to her role in Bend it like Bechham when the movies screenwriter say her and wrote the move with Parminder Nagra in mind for the lead, five years later the film was made and that part made Parminder Nagra an international star.

Parminder Nagra then had roles in the movie Ella Enchanted and a TV version of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and the television drama Second Generation

in 2003 Parminder Nagra became a cast member of the hit show ER which she starred in until the shows end on April 2nd in 2009. Parminder Nagra's role on the show is historic because it was the first recurring Indian character on American TV.


Parminder Nagra also did voiced work in the animated movie Batman: Gotham Knigh.

on January 17th 2009 Parminder Nagra married James Stenson.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a Tuluva model and bollywood actress.

Aiswarya Rai was born Mangalore, Karnataka, India on November 1st 1973. But she grew up mostly in Mumbai (maybe better known as Bombay to westerns)

Aiswarya Rai also goes by the nickname Ash.

well being a student at Ruparel College Aiswarya Rai started to do modeling work. In 94 Aiswarya Rai was the runner up in the Miss India pageant and went on to win Miss World.

after winning Miss World Aiswarya Rai dropped out of school and went into modeling full time.

in 97 Aiswarya Rai started her acting career in the Tamil film Iruvar. that year Aishwarya Rai made her Bollywood debut in the film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. But it was her dual role in the movie Jeans that came out a year later that Aiswarya Rai started to get critical success.

Aishwarya Rai then went on to have a very success for acting career.

on April 20th 2007 Aishwarya Rai married actor Abhishek Bachchan.

M.I.A

Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam better know to the world as the singer/producer/artist/fashion designer called M.I.A was born in Hounslow, London on July 17th 1977.

M.I.A's father is Tamil Activist, Arul Pragasam (also known as Arular) who was a founding member of EROS (The Eelam Revolutionary Organization of Students) and he is also a founder of Institute of Sustainability Development at Trincomalee




When she was only six months old, Mathangi Arulpragasam and her family moved to Sri Lanka (where her parents where from) because M.I.A's father wanted to support the Tamil people's struggle for independents.

Maya Arulpragasam didn't see her father much when she was growing up due to his activities as a political activist (which made him a wanted man with the Sri Lankan military) and when M.I.A did meet her father he was introduced to them as their Uncle, to make sure his young childern wouldn't accidentally give away his whereabouts when they where questioned by the Sri Lankan army.




During the early 80's M.I.A and her family moved to the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Indian, due to the civil war in Sri Lanka At first her family did well, M.I.A and her sister did great in school, but over time they fell on hard times. They saw less of their relatives and the money that was sent to them started to dry up and M.I.A and her family became ill.




because of this they moved back to Sri Lanka (this time in the town of Yazhpanam/Jaffna) but by the late 80's the family had to move again due to the civil war in Sri Lanka.

First they went back to India but ended up settling in London as refugees.



It was in London that a preteen Maya Arulpragasam was introduced to hip-hop, via such artist as KRS-One, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, N.W.A and Roxanna Shante.



Maya Arulpragasam later became a student at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where she studied fine art and film.

M.I.A almost had a career just an artist (actor Jude Law was her Patron) but she took a job to do art for the band Elastica, which ended up with her Maya Arulpragasam going on tour with the band in the states. on that tour M.I.A meet electronica artist Peaches who thought Mathangi Arulpragasam how to use a 505 sequencing machine.


The music bug bit her and when she got back to London, M.I.A bought her own 505 and started making music with it. She made a six track demo tape that included the song Galang

M.I.A's music has elements of hip-hop, electrinica, grim, indian music and sounds form all around the world mixed together in a unique blend that can only be seen as M.I.A style.

M.I.A music also has deep political meanings to go along with her great beats. As M.I.A says she finds it hard to rap about nothing (which sadly a lot of artist do)



though because of her deeply poltical message M.I.A has faced some censorship and has been hassled in a number of ways. MTV wouldn't play her song Sunshowers due to the lyrics and in 2006 she denied a visa to the US for awhile (luckily that is all cleared up and she is currently living in New York)




in 2008 M.I.A started her own record label, N.E.E.T.

and released her own clothing line

M.I.A's older sister is jewellery designer, Kali Arulpragasam. Kail is the founder and creative director of Super Fertile. like her younger sister M.I.A, Kali also used her art to make political messages.

Tasmin Lucia Khan is a TV news reporter, model and talk show host.




She graduated form Oxford with an Honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

Tasmin Lucia Khan started her career as a sports caster for Channel Five.



in 2000 Tasmin worked Indian Television network Zee TV Network, where she started out as a news reporter and entertainment presenter. Khan then went on to host her own entertainment talk show for Zee TV.




She now works for BBC 3's 60 second news (it's like 60 minutes but a lot quicker)

on January 15th she did a news report for the 60 second news out of breath. since people only heard her, there was a lot of wild speculation on why she was breathing heavily.



Tasmin Lucia and BBC say the reason was she was out of breath because she was called in at the last minute for that news cast and rushed to get to the studio, and was out of breath as she did the report.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India on July 18 in 1982.




Due to Priyanka Chopra's working for the army Priyanka Chopra movied around a bit when she was growning up. Priyanka Chopra lived in both India and the United States in her youth.

Priyanka Chopra started out in modeling. In 2000 Priyanka Chopra won the title for Miss India. that same year Priyanka Chopra also won the title for the Miss world Beauty Pagent.

two years later Priyanka Chopra started her acting career in the Tamil laungauge film Thamizhan.




the year after that Priyanka Chopra moved to Bollywood to further her acting career and that is when her acting career started to sizzle (it is almost as hot as she is)

Priyanka Chopra has been in such films as The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Andaaz, Aitraaz, Blackmail, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Bluffmaster, Love Story 2050, Big Brother, Chamku, Drona, What's Your Raashee?, and nay along with many others.
